Dr Gabrielle Morrissey has been a sexologist - sexuality educator, sex consultant and sex researcher - since 1990. In addition to her distinguished academic qualifications in sexuality, Dr Gabrielle has varied media experience in television, radio and magazines. She is the author of the successful sexuality book for teens and young adults, Sex in the Time of Generation X, and her second sex book, Urge (also known as Hot Secrets for Great Sex, Satisfaction, Tirami Su and Jak Na To overseas) was released in Australia in June 2002, and has been sold to the US, UK, Canada and Europe. Gabrielle's third book, Spicy Sex, is published and distributed by HarperCollins, hitting shelves in bookstores and online book shops in February 2006.
Dr Gabrielle is in the rare position of being a media-sure 'sexpert' with graduate training and experience specifically in sex education and therapy. Currently based at Bond University as Assistant Professor, she teaches a stream of four human sexuality subjects across two academic programs. Gabrielle received her PhD in Sexology/Health Science from Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia, where she headed the Sexology Program for three years, from 2002 to 2004. In addition to running the undergraduate sexology program, and developing the Master of Sexology, she launched the world's first Master of Forensic Sexology program at Curtin in July 2003, which has attracted international attention and respect. Dr Gabrielle also serves as Adjunct Associate Professor in the Division of Health and Applied Sciences at Southern Cross University.
Gabrielle travels internationally for her writing and research, writes a weekly column for The Northern Star which is syndicated across regional NSW and Queensland, and contributes to innumerable publications, as well as consulting on sexuality web sites. Dr Gabrielle wrote a weekly sex and relationships column, Dear Gabby, in The West Australian newspaper for eighteen months, a monthly column in Zest magazine in the UK for three years, co-hosted her own sex themed radio talk show for 18 months, The Naked Truth, and has appeared on all major television networks in Australia, on programs ranging from 60 Minutes to SKY News to Channel 10's Big Brother 2. Gabrielle travels the world delivering sexuality workshops and public speaking engagements, and is a specialist sexologist for various corporate organisations, including YPO (Young Presidents Organisation).
Dr Gabrielle directs her own sexology consulting company, which offers a range of events, services and workshops for individuals and couples, and also small and large groups, educational institutions and corporations. Gabrielle Morrissey earned her Masters degree in Human Sexuality Education at the University of Pennsylvania and her Ph.D. at Curtin University of Technology. She presented her doctoral sex research in Paris at the 2001 World Congress of Sexology, sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), and has since presented her various subsequent research findings at national and international conferences.
Gabrielle's second book on sex, Urge, is 'a sassy, snappy romp of a bedside-read for the sexually savvy adult'. Published by HarperCollins, it was released in Australia in June 2002 and its international distribution was November 2002. Gabrielle's third book, Spicy Sex, released in February 2006 is already attracting international attention.
Gabrielle was the special sexpert guest for Britain's EROTICA expo in November 2002, and for Australia's Sexpo in April 2003. She has vast experience in presentations and public speaking in the area of human sexuality.
Gabrielle has worked as a sex educator and counsellor with the Family Planning Association, Planned Parenthood, the Elizabeth Blackwell Women's Health Center, the University of California, University of Pennsylvania, Curtin University of Technology and Bond University.
